How We Make Our Naturally Dyed Clothing
Every garment begins with natural fibers, experienced hands, and time.
Los Orgánicos Tour was created from more than twenty years of garment-making experience in Los Angeles and a belief that clothing can carry both purpose and character. We make each piece slowly and intentionally—from the first cut to the final inspection—so the materials, natural colors, and hands behind the work remain part of the finished garment.
1. Natural Fibers
Our garments begin with a carefully selected blend of 55% hemp and 45% certified organic cotton. Hemp gives the fabric strength, structure, and breathability. Organic cotton adds softness and comfort. Together, they create a fabric that feels substantial, softens with wear, and is made to be lived in.
2. Cut and Sewn in Los Angeles
Each style is developed, cut, and sewn in Los Angeles by people with years of experience in garment construction. Working locally keeps us close to every part of the process and allows us to pay attention to proportion, movement, stitching, and finish.
Our silhouettes are intentionally relaxed, oversized, cropped, or wide-legged depending on the style. Before a garment reaches the dye bath, it is prepared and inspected by hand.
3. Color Made from Natural Materials
Our palette comes from selected plant- and mineral-based materials, including:
- Natural indigo for layered blue tones
- Coconut charcoal for smoky gray and deep charcoal shades
- Red clay for warm, earthy mineral color
- Organic coffee for soft, naturally aged tones
We choose these materials because they create depth and movement that cannot be reproduced by a perfectly uniform industrial color. Every dye bath has its own character.
4. Dyed by Hand in Small Batches
Natural dyeing cannot be rushed. Depending on the color and garment, the process can include soaking, heating, dye baths, resting, rinsing, drying, and repeated applications that build the final tone gradually.
We work in small, carefully managed batches and pay close attention to the fabric, water, temperature, timing, and natural color. These elements respond differently from one garment to the next. That is why subtle variations in shade, texture, and placement are expected—and why no two pieces are exactly alike.
5. Thoughtful Water Use
Water is an essential part of natural dyeing. We manage each small-batch process carefully and produce garments only when they are ordered. This made-to-order approach helps us avoid unnecessary production and use materials with greater intention.
6. Printing, Curing, and Hand Finishing
After dyeing, each garment is rinsed, rested, cured, and inspected. Artwork is applied with water-based screen-printing inks selected to complement the natural fabric and preserve a soft hand feel.
Depending on the design, a piece may also receive hand distressing or individually applied details. Before it leaves our studio, every garment goes through a final inspection.
7. Made to Order
We do not produce large quantities simply to fill shelves. Production begins after an order is confirmed, allowing us to focus on the garment being made and reduce unnecessary inventory.
Because every piece moves through local construction, natural dyeing, printing, finishing, and inspection, please allow 15–21 days for production, order preparation, and processing before shipment.

A garment passes through many skilled hands: pattern making, cutting, sewing, dyeing, drying, printing, finishing, and inspection. We value the knowledge and time required at every stage and are committed to treating craftsmanship and the people who perform it with respect.
No two garments are exactly alike. Natural color may soften and evolve with wear, allowing each piece to develop a character that becomes personal to its owner.
